Miller Tennis Center is hosting a Pro-Am Tournament from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, with all proceeds to benefit children at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The field is limited to 16 amateurs, who will be paired with Buffalo’s most elite players. The “Pros” include UB coaches and star players, current and past, including Lee Nickell, George Tibil, Alexey Kalinin, Damien David, Sebastian Ionescu, Tony Miller, Ken White and others, with some special surprises. The event is sponsored by WTA player Jessica Pegula, Miller Tennis Center, Alexandria Tibil and Renee Nicole Events. Advance registration is required. BASKETBALL: Coaches looking to register teams for the 20th Annual PAL/Independent Health Basketball League may call the PAL at 851-4615 to receive info/registration packets. Brackets include Boys 10U ($250), Boys and Girls 12U and 15U ($275), and Girls 19U ($275). Age cutoff is June 1. Games are Monday through Thursday, 5:30-8:30 p.m., and Saturdays (Boys 10u and 12U) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Games start the week of June 30 at various City Park facilities and run about seven weeks. HOCKEY: A 16U Midget MOHL team is looking for some experienced forwards to round out its 2014-15 team. The team competes against teams from throughout Western New York and will participate in up to four tournaments next season, including possibly two out of town. The team should play in approximately 32-40 games. The team consists of primarily boys playing local high school hockey. If interested please call Scott at 706-9747.
