BASEBALL: The coaching staff of the University at Buffalo will hold three separate sessions to allow players of all ages to learn the fundamentals and improve their all-around game. One session will be a holiday camp for players age 6-12 from 9 a.m.-noon on Dec. 27-28; another is a hitting clinic for ages 12-17 from 9 a.m.-noon on Dec. 19 and a pitching/catching clinic for 12-17 year olds from 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 29. COACHING: The Buffalo Stars will offer a Student Coach Mentoring Program for young, aspiring hockey coaches. This program will be open to boys and girls ages 13-17 who would like to begin coaching in the near future. Applicants will be assigned to a current Buffalo Stars coach, shadow the coach and participate in both on-ice and off-ice instruction. Prospective student coaches must attend a training session conducted by the local hockey association. Candidates can apply by sending an email to the Buffalo Stars Coaching Director Tim O’Connor, stating his or her hockey experience. HOCKEY: The Buffalo Stars will conduct tryouts for their Spring/Summer teams on Dec. 31 at the Nichols School rink. Teams will be created for players in the 2000 through 1995 birth year categories. Tryouts will be held as follows: 9:30-10:45 a.m. for the 99, 98, and 97 birth year; 10:45 a.m.-noon for the ‘96 and ‘95 birth year; noon-1:15 p.m. for the 2000 birth year. Tryout fee is $15. LACROSSE: Next Level Lax is hosting six Buffalo Sticks Clinics for girls ages 6-18 on Dec. 8, Jan. 19, Jan 26, Feb. 2, Feb. 9, & Feb. 23 from 8:30-10 a.m. at Nichols School.
