BASKETBALL: The Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club, along with the Niagara PAL, is recruiting teams for the 12th annual Girls Summer Classic. HOCKEY: The Southern Tier Xpress is a new junior hockey team that will call the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena (JSBA) home for the 2014-15 season. The Xpress competes in the North American 3 Hockey League. Tryouts will be held 4-10:30 p.m. Friday at JSBA and 10 a.m.-10.p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m.-noon Sunday. Three more tryouts are scheduled: June 13-15 at the First Arena in Elmira, July 18-20 at the Whitestown Ice Arena in Whitesboro, and August 8-10 at JSBA. LACROSSE: A new league is forming for women ages 17 and up with no maximum age limit. The league is looking for around 60 players to fill four teams. Teams will have two practices (June 22 & 29) and six games (each Saturday from July 12-Aug. 16). The games and practices will take place at Niagara County Community College, but the league is not affiliated. Cost is $55 per player and covers officials, insurance, equipment, coaches and team shirts. Registrations and information meetings will be held 11-11:45 a.m. and noon-12:45 p.m. Saturday, and 5-5:45 p.m. and 6-6:45 p.m. May 21 in the small gym at NCCC.
