Buffalo heavyweight and former state Golden Gloves champion Bernard “Excell” Holmes will be quite familiar with the opponent he’ll face at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Paramount Theater in Huntington. Holmes has a rematch with hard-hitting unbeaten prospect Constantin Bejenaru of Catskill.

The two faced each other May 24 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., in a fight that was declared a no-contest after it was stopped at 2:30 of the second round due to a cut on Behenaru’s forehead that resulted from an accidental head butt between the combatants. This will be Holmes’ (2-1-1, 1 KO) sixth fight since turning pro in June 2009.

Bejenaru (3-0-0. 2 KOs) is trained by Kevin Rooney, who trained former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

The featured bouts on the card include unbeaten junior welterweight Chris Algieri (7 KOs) looking to improve to 18-0 when he fights in his hometown against Wilfredo Acuna (14-12, 11 KOs) of Nicaragua. The other highlight fight has former IBF world welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (36-4, 22 KOs) against Dashon Johnson (14-12-3, 5 KOs).
