Buffalo native Tom Baker saved his best for last Wednesday night, bowling a 290 in the final match to win the PBA50 Northern California Classic in Brentwood, Calif., Baker defeated fellow PBA Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III, 290-245 in the title match. He averaged 246.2 for nine match play games on his way to winning the $8,000 top prize.

Baker, who now lives in King, N.C., reached the final with a 242-198 triumph over Eric Forkel after he had eliminated Rick Francis, 240-238 and 278-186, in their best of three match. Baker began the day with a dramatic victory over Darron Peters. After losing the first two games of their best-of-five match, 247-203 and 247-227, Baker rallied to win three games in a row (245-226, 268-247 and 237-185).
