Former St. Bonaventure women’s basketball star Jessica Jenkins finished as runner-up for the England Basketball League Division 1 Player of the Year.
In her first season in the EBL, Jenkins averaged 21.4 points per game, finishing with a free-throw percentage of 96 percent and helped the Cardiff Archers earn a spot in the Final Four later this month.
“The league is very competitive night in and night out. I couldn’t ask for a better situation here in Cardiff. Even with some ups and downs this year,” said Jenkins. “We’re in a good situation to finish the playoffs strong.”
Jenkins, who helped Bona reach the Sweet 16 in 2012, guided Keflavik of the Icelandic Basketball League to a Dominos League Title, averaging 20.3 points per game en route to being named Finals MVP, prior to joining the Archers.
Jenkins scored 1,441 points during her Bona career, which ranked seventh in program history, and holds the Bonnies record for career three-pointers (338).
