TOLEDO, Ohio – When Marcus Stroman was called up by the Toronto Blue Jays, the Buffalo Bisons were left without a true ace. Liam Hendriks, who briefly pitched for the Blue Jays earlier in the season, has taken over that role admirably.

Although Hendriks got no decision in Buffalo’s 3-1 loss in 11 innings to the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday at Fifth Third Field, he pitched eight innings, allowing one run on six hits and struck out a season-high nine while walking just one. He remained 6-0 on the season while lowering his ERA to 1.92.

Tyler Collins hit a two-run homer off Bisons reliever Ryan Tepera with one out in the 11th to give the Mud Hens a walk-off victory.

Toledo starter Kyle Lobstein went six innings, allowing one earned run while striking out five.

Bobby Korecky pitched two scoreless innings for the Herd in relief of Hendriks, lowering his ERA to 0.25.

The Bisons will open a four-game set in Columbus tonight (7:05 p.m., Radio 1520 AM ). Deck McGuire (3-0) is scheduled to pitch for the Herd.
