CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jake Goedert hit a game-winning home run in the eighth, his third homer in the last two games, and Bobby Korecky pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth as the Buffalo Bisons ended an eight-game road trip with a 6-5 victory over the Charlotte Knights Monday afternoon before an announced 8,568 in BB&T Ballpark.

The Herd will begin a four-game home series against the Gwinnett Braves at Coca-Cola Field tonight (7:05 p.m., Radio 1520 AM) after going 4-4 on the Southern swing.

Goedert’s homer off Javy Guerra after a walk to Matt Tuiasosopo erased a 5-4 Charlotte lead.

Korecky, who has not allowed an earned run in 25 innings (16 appearances) for the Herd, gave up singles to Matt Davidson and Dan Black to start the bottom of the ninth. He struck out the next two, but Blake Tekotte singled to right to fill the bases before Carlos Sanchez flied out to right to end it.

Dan Johnson, who also homered in Sunday’s win over the Knights, led off the second for the Bisons with his seventh homer of the season. A single by Tuiasosopo, a double by Goedert put runners in scoring position for Ryan Goins who plated both runners with a ground single off the glove of the first baseman.

Alex Liddi and Jordan Danks homered for Charlotte, which had two runners thrown out at third base, grounded into two double plays and was only 3 for 11 with runners in scoring position. Buffalo was 3 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

Shawn Hill made his second start for Buffalo and pitched six full innings, allowing all five Knights runs on nine hits. Gregory Infante (2-1) struck out the side in the seventh and set the Knights down in order in the eighth as well.

Toronto recalled infielder Jonathan Diaz and right-hander Chad Jenkins from the Bisons. Catcher Erik Kratz was optioned to Buffalo.
