PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Buffalo Bisons will face at least one player, and maybe two, who own a World Series ring tonight.
Brandon Workman will be start for Pawtucket when the Red Sox face the Bisons in the final game of a four-game series (6:15 p.m., Radio 1520 AM). The teams took Sunday off.
Workman was called up to Boston from Triple-A last July due to injuries in the parent team’s bullpen. He became an important member of the staff. Workman pitched a perfect eighth inning for the Red Sox in Game Six of the World Series. Boston finished off the Cardinals in that contest to take the Series, four games to two.
Marcus Stroman (1-1, 1.17) will start for the Bisons.
Stroman may face another postseason hero of Boston’s. Shane Victorino is on the Pawsox roster on a rehab assignment. He was 0 for 3 on Saturday.
