Lynch purposely adds weight
Running back Marshawn Lynch looks stronger than ever in spring practices and says he’s carrying a bit more weight this season.
“I bulked up to about 230, so I put some mass on,” Lynch said after Thursday’s voluntary workout in the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse. “I’ll see how that’s going to work.”
Lynch is up a good 10 pounds from last season, when he was listed at 215. But he said he still feels good about his speed.
“Oh yeah, most definitely,” he said. “I haven’t lost a step, so pretty good.”
Lynch also thinks the extra weight in spring may simply help him to maintain his good playing weight during the season.
“I don’t think you put on weight to add years to your career, but it was something different for me,” he said. “During the season, during training camp, it will be pretty hot, so it probably won’t stay on. . . . I’m still a young man, so I still have some growing to do.”

Cornerback Terrence McGee watched Thursday’s workout from the sidelines and said the shoulder injury he suffered a day before was not serious.
“It’s just a bruise, I’m alright,” McGee said. McGee hurt the shoulder making a play on a pass down the sideline for Terrell Owens. McGee broke up the play, but then Owens fell on top of him as the two tumbled to the ground.
“The way I just landed kind of had me scared,” McGee said. “Then . . . he came on top of me, just the initial contact when I hit the ground kind of scared me the way I landed. But like I said, everything turned out to be fine and I’m just sore.”
Expect McGee to sit out for a while, maybe the next couple weeks of spring practice, rather than rush back.
“I feel like it isn’t too much of a rush to get back out there, but whenever the soreness calms down I’ll be right back out there,” he said.
