Tell us about your card-playing hobby. “I play a lot of poker. It’s a thing we do with some of the players. Every Monday night we get together to play poker. After I’m done with football it’s something I wouldn’t mind getting into, just as a spare-time thing. I want to play in the World Series of Poker some day. ... It’s a league rule that we can’t play in tournaments, regardless of whether it’s a charity tournament or anything. That’s why I want to do it after I’m done with football.”
Is having a poker face a natural talent or a learned skill? “I think it’s both. But I think you have to develop a talent for having a poker face. It’s a psychological game. With guys here sometimes, I like to talk to them. I think I can convince them to call me if my hand is strong or convince them to fold if I don’t have anything.”
Who’s your favorite poker star: “I’d probably say Daniel Negreanu is my favorite. I just like the way he plays. He’s good at the math and he’s good reading people and telling them what they have.”
