Baltimore Ravens: Newly signed offensive tackle Willie Anderson said he hopes to play in Sunday’s opener against the team that cut him, the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Receiver Jerry Porter was ruled out of Sunday’s opener at Tennessee because of a hamstring injury. He missed all of camp and the preseason, but returned to practice Monday and had hoped to be back for the opener.
Miami Dolphins: Ricky Williams will start at running back Sunday against the New York Jets, but Ronnie Brown, who is recovering from knee surgery, will play early and play a lot.
NFC
Carolina Panthers: Backup quarterback Matt Moore wore a large boot to protect his broken leg. “I think we’re going four to six weeks [recovery period], and from what I’m told, it’s kind of all on me,” he said.
Dallas Cowboys: Cornerback Terence Newman is listed as questionable for the season opener at Cleveland. So Adam Jones may make his Dallas debut as a starter on Sunday in what will be Jones’ first NFL game since the 2006 season.
New York Giants: Defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said Washington tackle Chris Samuels made a dirty play when he fell on the back of his ankle after being beaten on a pass rush on the final play of the NFL season opener Thursday night. Kiwanuka hurt his left ankle on the play. X-rays were negative but the ankle was still sore on Friday.
