The NFL Report / A preseason roundup
AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Jacksonville Jaguars: Defensive end Derrick Harvey ended a 33-day holdout Wednesday by signing a five-year, $23.8 million contract. Harvey, who played collegiately at Florida, was the last first-round draft pick to sign.
San Diego Chargers: Linebacker Shawne Merriman has decided he’ll play this season despite two torn ligaments in his left knee. Merriman underwent surgery to repair cartilage damage five months ago, but has had persistent pain during training camp.
Baltimore Ravens: Traded for Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Marques Douglas, reacting quickly to defensive lineman Dwan Edwards’ season-ending back injury. The 31-year-old Douglas was acquired for a late-round draft choice in 2009 and a conditional 2010 draft selection.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Seattle Seahawks: Lofa Tatupu has a bone bruise in his right knee, but coach Mike Holmgren said the Pro Bowl linebacker will be fine for the season opener Sept. 7 at Buffalo. He won’t play in Friday’s preseason finale against Oakland.
