A Hamburg Town Court hearing that had been scheduled for Tuesday in the street-racing crash case against Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus has been postponed until July 1, according to a court clerk for Hamburg Town Justice Gerald P. Gorman.
On May 30, Dareus and fellow Bills defensive linemen Jerry Hughes were allegedly involved in a high-speed race near one of the Southtowns’ busiest intersections, when Dareus lost control of his 2012 Jaguar. According to Hamburg police, Dareus’ car crossed over two lanes of oncoming eastbound traffic and ran up over a curb, through some grass and the parking lot of the Mongolian Buffet restaurant before crashing into a tree,
The uninjured 24-year-old Pro Bowl lineman got out of his crumpled vehicle and fled the scene, police said. He was arrested less than 15 minutes after the crash.
Hughes later admitted being the other driver in the race. He reportedly drove away from the scene in his souped-up Chevy Camaro after Dareus’ vehicle crashed.
