New York Jets: Fullback Jehuu Caulcrick, the former Clymer star, was released from the practice squad to make room for to make room for running back Danny Woodhead.
Denver Broncos: Quarterback Kyle Orton threw passes wearing a glove on his throwing hand and thin gauze and tape on his injured finger to protect his dislocated knuckle. He hopes to start in Sunday’s opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
National Conference
Philadelphia Eagles: Michael Vick told a Philadelphia high school audience that his story is a cautionary tale. The Eagles quarterback, who served prison time for running a dogfighting ring, said of the experience, “I was influenced by so many people when I should have been a leader, not a follower.”
Minnesota Vikings: Defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams will be able to play in the season-opener at Cleveland this weekend, regardless of what happens with their court case against the NFL. The Williamses are challenging four-game suspensions handed down by the league for violating the league’s drug policy last summer. The players acknowledge taking an over-the-counter weight-loss supplement.
Around the league
Sports betting: The Delaware sports betting lottery starting this week will allow gamblers to plunk down a couple of bucks, or a few thousand, on NFL teams, officials said. Minimum wagers in the new lottery, which starts Thursday, will be $2. The maximum wager, depending on the type of bet, will be $3,000. For each wager, bettors must pick the correct outcomes of at least three NFL games, called parlay bets, or as many as 12.
