Thursday’s preseason games
N. Y. Jets 38, Philadelphia 27: The Eagles’ Michael Vick got the green light for full reinstatement in the NFL on Thursday when Commissioner Roger Goodell said he could play in Week Three instead of waiting until October. In this game, Vick scored his first NFL touchdown since 2006 on a 2-yard run.
New England 38, N. Y. Giants 27: Brian Hoyer, the rookie free agent from Michigan State, helped his chances to become Tom Brady’s primary backup by throwing for a TD and leading three other scoring drives.
Jacksonville 24, Washington 17: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew might not be 100 percent when the regular season begins after bruising his lower right leg. X-rays were negative, but Jones-Drew was scheduled to have an MRI exam today.
Miami 10,New Orleans 7: Chad Pennington completed 8 of 11 passes for 57 yards and the Dolphins’ defense recorded eight sacks and an interception.
Chicago 26, Cleveland 23: Bears running back Kevin Jones was forced to leave the game due to a left ankle injury.
Tennessee 27, Green Bay 13: Vince Young ran for a touchdown and threw for another in his strongest preseason outing.
Pittsburgh 21, Carolina 10: Ben Roethlisberger threw one swing pass for 7 yards on third-and-9 and called it a night.
Cincinnati 38, Indianapolis 7: Carson Palmer (ankle sprain) sat out but is expected to play in the Bengals’ opener.
Baltimore 20, Atlanta 3: John Beck threw for 232 yards with a pair of TD passes for the Ravens.
St. Louis 17, Kansas City 9: The Rams forced three turnovers, finishing with 12 takeaways in the preseason.
