The Buffalo Bandits didn’t get any help late Saturday night in their attempt to clinch second place in the National League East and guarantee themselves a home playoff game.

The Toronto Rock defeated the Vancouver Stealth, 17-9, in British Columbia. That improved the Rock’s record to 6-9, while the Bandits are 8-6. Toronto can clinch a playoff spot next week with a win over Philadelphia.

However, the Rock’s win on Saturday was very costly. Garrett Billings suffered a season-ending knee injury. The forward is the league’s leading scorer with 102 points and is the first player in league history to have three straight 100-point seasons.

The Bandits could have clinched a home playoff game on Saturday, but instead lost to Calgary. Buffalo goes back on the road this Saturday to play the Swarm in Minnesota.
