Bandits sign Kilgour to extension
Updated: August 21, 2010, 10:22 AM
The Buffalo Bandits have signed coach and General Manager Darris Kilgour to a three-year
contract extension, Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler announced Tuesday. The deal
will keep Kilgour in Buffalo through the 2013 National Lacrosse League season.
Kilgour has led the Bandits to eight consecutive playoff appearances and one NLL
championship, in 2008. He has a regular-season record of 80-48 in Buffalo, along with a 10-7
record in the postseason.
"We are extremely happy and excited to have Darris back for three more years," Loffler
said. "Darris has meant a lot to this organization for many years both on and off the
field. We are confident his return will contribute to bringing another championship back to
Buffalo."
Kilgour reached a milestone March 12 in Toronto when he won his 94th career game, surpassing
the legendary Les Bartley to become the NLL's all-time leader in coaching wins. Kilgour was
inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame in 2007, and he will be inducted into the Greater Buffalo
Sports Hall of Fame this October along with his brother, Rich.
Kilgour began his coaching career with the Washington Power from 2000 to 2002, finishing
with an 18-12 record and leading the team into the semifinals both seasons.
Kilgour played with the Bandits from 1992-99, and was a major contributor in each of
Buffalo's three Major Indoor Lacrosse League Championships. He was the first ever draft choice
of the Bandits in 1992. The Niagara Falls native was a two-time All-American lacrosse player
at Niagara-Wheatfield High School.
