The billboard: A daily dose from camp

PITTSFORD — The Bills' front office may not want Michael Vick, but the players have a different view.
"Man, when you look at him, he's a helluva talent, he's a helluva football player," wide
receiver Lee Evans said Tuesday. "Obviously if you look at him just as a player you would love
to have that kind of talent on the team."
Running back Fred Jackson agreed.
"Anytime you have an athlete like Michael Vick you want to see him on your team," Jackson
said. "Hopefully some things work out for him and he'll be in the league somewhere."
That team more than likely won't be the Bills.
Russ Brandon, the Bills' chief operating officer and general manager, said Tuesday morning
that the Bills aren't interested in bringing in the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
"We're comfortable with our roster as it stands right now," Brandon said.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick on Monday. Free after
serving 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, Vick could participate in
regular-season games as early as October.
Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, and can play in the final two
preseason games, provided he finds a team willing to sign him
Sideline views
Defensive tackle Marcus Stroud returned to practice Tuesday night at St. John Fisher after
missing time with a hamstring injury. Others who missed some time because of injuries were
John McCargo, P.K. Sam, Ventrell Jenkins and Shawn Nelson. ... Rookie guard Andy Levitre
worked with the first-team offense.
No-huddle
The Bills have used the no-huddle offense exclusively over the first three days of camp. Coach
Dick Jauron on not huddling:
"We just haven't been as good at it as we would have liked to in the past. We are spending
a great deal of time on it right now. The feeling is, it doesn't take a lot to huddle —
almost anybody can figure out how to huddle. To do it the other way on the line, it takes a
little more work, so because you're always in it in two-minute mode anyway, all this practice
is going to be good for us.
"It involves a lot more communication, which is another reason we're spending so much time
on it. So far, they have grasped it well. They have done a good job with it. We like it, we
like the tempo, we like it in practice and we would like to use it more in games."
Bills waive Hairston
The Bills announced Tuesday afternoon that they waived running back Justise Hairston.
Hairston, a first-year running back out of Central Connecticut, was expected to miss the rest
of the season after suffering a knee injury.
Hairston was injured during no-contact conditioning drills during the morning session of
last Saturday's practice. The injury was initially believed to be minor although Hairston did
not return for the afternoon session.
