Schobel pondering future, not his bonus
Updated: August 21, 2010, 9:46 AM
Aaron Schobel is still considering his football future, and isn't worried about collecting a
bonus he's due to receive from the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills' veteran defensive end said Tuesday he has not decided if he will play football
this season.
"I'm not ready to say if I'm going to retire," Schobel said.
The Bills were due to pay him a $2 million roster bonus Wednesday, which is a guaranteed part
of his contract. However, he needs to pass a physical to get it, because he failed a team
physical due to an elbow injury.
"I had elbow surgery three weeks ago — it was a scope," Schobel said, referring to an
arthroscopic procedure. "If I decide to play I'll come up and take the physical. ... I want to
play in Buffalo if I'm going to play."
Schobel, 32, has played nine seasons with the Bills and made two Pro Bowls. He revealed
last season he had been considering the possibility of retirement since last summer. Schobel
had a team-high 10 sacks in 2009.
