Bills put Byrd on IR, re-sign Stamer
Updated: August 21, 2010, 9:16 AM
Rookie safety Jairus Byrd, who leads the Buffalo Bills in interceptions with nine, was placed on injured reserve today, the team announced in a press release.
Taking Byrd's place on the 53-man roster is linebacker Josh Stamer, a former special teams standout. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Bills also announced that LB Ryan Manalac has been added to the practice squad.
Stamer was released by the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 25. The seven-year veteran has played in 88 career games with Cleveland (2009), Tennessee (2008) and Buffalo (2003-07). The 6-foot-2, 242-pound South Dakota product entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New York Giants in 2001.
Manalac, a 6-0, 235-pound Cincinnati product, entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with Buffalo on August 13, 2009 and was released prior to the start of the regular season.
