Two Western New York college students were recognized for their contributions to the game
by the New York State West Youth Soccer Association.
Megan Kiernan of Williamsville, a student at Buffalo State, was recognized as Boy
Competitive Coach of the Year for her work with an inner city soccer club, the Buffalo Soccer
Club. Michael Ertel of Tonawanda, a physical education student at Niagara County
Community College, received the Young Referee of the Year award for his work on both the state
and regional level.

The St. Joe's Alumni Association will induct its 16th annual Sports Hall of Fame class
tonight at 7 p.m. at the school located on 845 Kenmore Ave. The Class of 2009 includes: coach
Michael Diggins, Clarence "Bud" Smith '35, Dennis Riley '58, Thomas
Toy Jr. '68, Rick "Rico" Mariano '70, Michael Ginal '96 and the members of
the 1954 & 1955 Varsity 8 Crew Teams. The Master of Ceremonies will be Bert Gambini,
music director for WBFO.

Nick Castilone of Williamsville has been selected to play in the Football University
Youth All-American Bowl game on Jan. 10, 2010, in San Antonio. The game honors the top
seventh- and eighth-grade players in the United States by having them play in all-star format
contest on a national stage. Castilone, an eighth grader, was among the 300 youth all-stars nominated for the game in which scouts and youth coaches from across the country determined the game's participants via game-highlight tape and an interview.
Forty-four seventh graders and 44 eighth graders earned invitations to the week-long event
that will consist of practices, skills competition and break-out sessions with current Hall of
Famers, former NFL stars and other celebrities. Participants also will have VIP access to the
U.S. Army All-American Bowl game featuring the nation's premier high school players in an East
versus West format Jan. 9.

Hall of Fame Bills coach Marv Levy and Jeff Miller will participate in a signing
for their new book: "Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in Buffalo Bills Football History" on
Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The book is written by Levy and Miller and was created for Bills fans who want to look back
on the most memorable plays ever. It also reveals special stories and experiences behind the
most heart-stopping moments from players and coaches who made them happen.
Levy will sign copies of the book from 6-8:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Wegmans at 675 Alberta
Drive, Amherst. He will then participate in a signing from 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at Barnes &
Noble at 3701 McKinley Parkway, Orchard Park.

Jordan Bauth will represent the region and the Jamestown Skating Club
competing in the intermediate division at the 2010 Junior National Figure Skating
Championships Dec. 16 in Strongville, Ohio.
The Lancaster Middle School honor roll student qualified for the national event by winning
the 2010 North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Title in Hackensack, N.J. The event featured
82 skaters from New York, New Jersey and Erie, Pa.
The Nationals will feature the top four skaters from each of the three regions, Eastern,
Midwestern and Pacific Coast. Bauth also competed at nationals two years ago in Salt Lake
City.
She trains four days a week in Jamestown. She is coached by Lenel van den Berg, Kirk
Wyse and Suzanne Bauth.

The following were re-elected to the New York State Association of Certified Football
Officials Board of Directors. They are: Doug Hartmayer, Joe Jastrzemski and Dale
Mussen. A 20-year Don Burns Service Award was presented to David Sobus. Thirty-year
Service Awards were given to Joe Barke, Dave DeYoung, Lou Schmidt, Gerry Webb and
Harris Wienke. Bill Gould earned a 40 years of service award, while Wienke was
presented the Richard Leous Service Award. John D. Burns Memorial Award winners included
Bill Moore (Lake Shore football coach and athletic director) and Bob O'Connor
(St. Joe's football coach).

HALL OF FAME: Erie Community College's Department of Athletics will induct a new
class into its Hall of Fame in May 2010 and is accepting nominations through Dec. 4. Current
and former faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to submit nominations of former
student-athletes and/or coaches that have had a significant contribution to ECC athletics.
Nominations can be sent via e-mail to LeAnne Gerth at gerthl@ecc.edu or mailed to: Department
of Athletics, Erie Community College, 6205 Main Street, Williamsville, N.Y. 14221. Nominations
should include as much information as possible, including name, class year, sports played and
athletic accomplishments.
TENNIS: RiverRock Tennis hosts a Thanksgiving Saturday Doubles Tournament from 6-11
p.m. Nov. 28 at the Village Glen Tennis Club. Entry fee is $40 per team and the tournament is
open to players rated 3.0-4.5. Registration is due by Monday. All proceeds will benefit the
RiverRock Junior Team Tennis Program. To register, contact lirio@eastern.usta.con or call
