Bisons to have more night games in 2010
Updated: August 21, 2010, 8:55 AM
With more summer home dates than in the past, the Buffalo Bisons announced Wednesday they're going to go to more evening starts for the 2010 season in Coca-Cola Field.
The team will play 36 of its 44 home games in June, July and August at night as game times
were finalized for the team's previously announced schedule. Most of the traditional Thursday
afternoon games have been dropped; just three of the 13 Thursdays will be day games, and one
is the 10:35 a.m. School Day game May 27 against Toledo.
"The feedback we received from our fans told us they wanted more opportunities for night
games during the summer months," said Mike Buczkowski, Bisons vice president/general manager.
"Because of the amount of home games we have late in the season, adding night games to
Thursdays gives our fans even more summer nights at Coca-Cola Field to enjoy."
The home opener Wednesday, April 14 against Pawtucket will be a 3:05 p.m. start. Three
games will start at 4:05 p.m. as a concession to International League travel schedules.
The Bisons' customary 7:05 p.m. start time will be used for most games starting in May.
Most Sundays will be 1:05 p.m. (except a 7:05 game Aug. 1 against Lehigh Valley). The six
Friday night games in June, July and August will start at 7:35 p.m.
The annual Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus
will be Saturday, July 3 at 6:05 p.m. against Rochester.
The Bisons will host Syracuse in a special Memorial Day afternoon start, a 2:05 p.m. game
May 31. Fan Appreciation Night will be Thursday, Sept. 2 at 6:05 p.m. against Scranton/Wilkes-
Barre.
