• The Week Two football lineup for Friday includes Burgard at Depew and Maryvale at Albion. No. 1 ranked small school Southwestern hosts Salamanca. ... Saturday’s spotlight games are Williamsville South at Grand Island at 2 p.m. and Orchard Park under the lights at Clarence at 7 p.m. No. 1 ranked large school Sweet Home visits Williamsville East.
• The Nichols girls soccer team plays Nardin today at the Buffalo Soccer Club at 4:30 p.m. ... Grand Island opens defense of its Niagara Frontier League title on Thursday at North Tonawanda at 7 p.m. ... Williamsville North looks to defend its title at Friday and Saturday’s Lockport Tournament.
• The East Aurora boys and girls look to defend its titles at Saturday’s JFK Cross Country Invitational. The girls varsity race is at noon, followed by the boys at 12:30 p.m. ... V-Byron-Bergen is also hosting an Invitational.
• The Eden boys volleyball tournament, easily one of the most competitive in the state, is Saturday. McQuaid and Victor of Section V are among the visitors.
• The Lockport boys soccer tournament is Saturday.
• Friday’s field for the Alden Girls Swimming Invitational features Depew, Iroquois, Starpoint, Maryvale and the Lady Bulldogs starting at 4:30 p. m.
• Clarence and St. Mary’s will be hosting girls volleyball tournaments on Saturday.
• The annual Barb Field Field Hockey Invitational is Saturday at Kenmore East.

• COACH OF THE WEEK: The Week One winner of the NFL/Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week is Kenmore West’s Rich Harris. The Blue Devils knocked off defending state champion North Tonawanda. Voters are: Dick Gallagher (WNY High School Sports), Denny Lynch (Buffalo Bills), Kevin Kelleher (Ad Pro Team Sports), Larry Michael (official), Mark Adair (Upstate Football Weekly), Mary Jo Monnin (Buffalo News), Preston Teague (Buffalo Bills, non-voting).
Honors
• WRESTLING: The National Wrestling Hall of Fame will be welcoming several contributors from Section VI at Sunday’s induction in Syracuse. The 14th annual Upstate New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame ceremony is being held at the Double Tree Hotel, 6301 Route 298.
The Class of 2010 includes the DiPaolo family, which will be recognized as the Outstanding American Family from New York. Joining the DiPaolos will be Niagara County Community College coach Eric Knuutila, retired Lancaster coach Dennis Beck and Ron Brunner of Pioneer High School. Tickets are $75 at the door. The ceremony will start with cocktails and hors d’ouevre at 1:30 p. m. and dinner will be served at 3 p.m.
