Flyers trade Ratchuk
Updated: August 21, 2010, 8:53 AM
Defenseman Michael Ratchuk, a South Buffalo native who played with Sabres forward Tim Kennedy at Michigan State, has been traded by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Stefan Legein, according to The Hockey News.
The Flyers drafted Ratchuk in the second round (42nd overall) in the 2006 draft. He had one assist in five games with the AHL Adirondack Phantoms. The Blue Jackets drafted Legein in the second round (37th overall) of the 2007 draft. The forward led Canada to the 2008 World Junior Championship then told the Blue Jackets he was quitting hockey because of burnout.
He changed his mind this year and had two goals and an assist with the Syracuse Crunch.
Legein will report to the Phantoms and Ratchuk will report to the Crunch.
