Former Buffalo Bills defensive back Booker Edgerson will be the guest of honor at a testimonial dinner at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 at Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant in Blasdell. Bob Koshinski will be master of ceremonies and speakers will include former Bills players and local media representatives.

Tickets for the dinner are $35 with net proceeds going to Buffalo Prep, a non-profit scholarship program for disadvantaged inner-city elementary school students who display the ability to go to college. Ticket reservations are required and can be made by contacting Caitlyn Campbell at the Amherst Chamber of Commerce (632-6905) or by e-mail to ccampbell@amherst.org.

Edgerson, the current president of the Buffalo Bills Alumni Association, will be inducted onto the Bills' Wall of Fame at halftime of the Bills-New York Jets game on Oct. 3.

The Buffalo Stars hockey organization is collecting gift cards to benefit the National Guard 107th Family Support Group as part of a Salute to the American Troops and 911 Remembrance Weekend. Any person or team that can generate $100 worth of gift cards will receive 40 free opening night passes to the Stars games on Sept. 11. Opening night games will be at 3:45 p.m. when the Continental B team faces the New England Huskies and at 7 p.m. when the Empire B team faces the Frederick (Md.) Freeze.
