Buffalo Bills coach Dick Jauron liked what he saw from receiver Terrell Owens during the team's first week of organized team activity practices.

"He looks like a guy that's caught a lot of passes in our game and knows what he's doing and

knows how to do it," Jauron said Wednesday. "He clearly presents a very good target and knows

how to play coverages, how to play defenders and he plays with a lot of confidence. So we're

very happy that he's here with us. He'll do a lot of things for our offense."

The team practiced for 90 minutes in Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse. Owens' run-after-the-catch

ability was very impressive over the first three days of spring practices.

. . .

Cornerback Ashton Youboty sat out practices this week and may sit out until training camp.

Youboty missed the last half of last season with a foot injury — plantar fasciitis. The

Bills are being cautious with him this spring.

"He's getting better and better all of the time," Jauron said. "We just want to make sure

he's ready for training camp. Through this period, we'll just see how it goes. He's been

heading in the right direction now for a number of weeks, so we're happy about that."

. . .

Receiver Mike Jefferson was waived Wednesday. Jefferson joined the Bills' practice squad last

November. The Montana State product originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with

Dallas last year. ... The Bills are off until Tuesday. They have three practices scheduled

next week. All spring workouts are closed to the public. ... Watching practice as a guest of

the team was Jason Winters, a Lockport High senior football player who won the Athletes in

Action Call to Courage Award last month. Winters plays drums and is involved with a mentoring

program for young people. He will attend Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.
