Owens teamed with model for new 'Superstars'
Updated: August 21, 2010, 8:05 AM
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens is filming episodes of ABC's "The
Superstars" at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, a spokesman for the show said Tuesday
night.
But Bills fans shouldn't fear that Owens will miss much offseason work because of the reality
show in which he is paired with Joanna Krupa, a model who was born in Poland and raised in
Chicago.
According to the spokesman for Juma Entertainment, which is reprising the old "Wide World of
Sports" series, the six episodes of "The Superstars" are being shot on a two-week schedule.
The spokesman said if Owens makes it until the end of the competition with seven other
athlete-celebrity teams he will only be filming until the weekend of May 1.
Other athletes include former baseball player Jeff Kent, ex-NBA star Robert Horry, skier Bode
Miller, tennis player Jennifer Capriati, basketball player Lisa Leslie, former soccer player
Brandi Chastain and women's freeskiier Kristi Leskinen.
They will team with actress Ali Landry (Kent), actress Estella Warren (Horry), TV host Paige
Hemmis (Miller), "Dancing With The Stars" performer Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Leskinen), actor and
former North Carolina football player Dan Cortese (Leslie), actor David Charvet (Capriati) and
singer Julio Iglesias, Jr. (Chastain).
If Owens and Krupa are eliminated before that, their time at the resort will be shorter, the
spokesman said. The show is set to premiere June 23.
Owens also is filming his own Vh-1 reality series and shooting is expected to take
place in Buffalo in mid-May.
The eight teams will compete weekly in events including
swimming, biking, running and kayaking. One team will be eliminated each week in the six-week
series, leading up to the finals.
