Sabres recall defenseman Weber
Updated: August 21, 2010, 7:52 AM
The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman Mike Weber from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
Weber played two games with the Sabres in October, recording no points, and did not play during his second recall in December. Weber, who just returned from an injury, has six points (1-5), 86 PIMs and a plus-9 rating in 37 games with Portland this season.
The Sabres needed a sixth defenseman for tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks due to a hip injury suffered by Jaroslav Spacek in Phoenix.
Weber joins two defensemen who also started the season in Portland, Chris Butler and Marc-Andre Gragnani. Other healthy defensemen are Craig Rivet, Toni Lydman and Nathan Paetsch.
