Grading the Bills

Running game

D This makes back-to-back horrible performances. Lynch carried 14 times for 46 yards. Team's longest run was just 8 yards.

Passing game

F Edwards had third straight bad game. Threw two awful interceptions. Was admittedly befuddled at times by the Patriots' schemes.

Run defense

D Allowed Green-Ellis, a fourth-stringer, to gain 105 yards. Folded in fourth quarter for second week in a row, giving up 19-play drive.

Pass defense

C- Made Cassel look like Tom Brady. Welker had a field day underneath. No interceptions and just one sack. So what else is new?

Special teams

B Moorman had a terrific day, dropping four punts inside the 20. McKelvin finally broke loose with 85-yard kickoff return late.

Coaching

F So much for Jauron outcoaching Belichick. He couldn't even get the challenge flag out of his pocket. Poor use of timeouts at end of half.

Grading the Patriots

Running game

B+ Doesn't matter who plays running back. They commit to run and get it done. Joe the Plumber could average 4 yards a pop for these guys.

Passing game

A- Tom who? Cassel looked like a Hall of Famer. This isn't exactly breaking news, but Buffalo's pass rush was virtually nonexistent.

Run defense

A- Didn't allow a run longer than 8 yards. Dominant in the middle. What can you say when Bills are lining up in shotgun on third-and-1?

Pass defense

A Took Evans out of game, as usual. Didn't allow anything down the field. Got consistent pressure on Edwards and confused him with coverages.

Special teams

B- Gave up long kickoff return to McKelvin, though issue was already decided. Gostkowski missed 49-yard field goal try.

Coaching

A Who said Belichick can't win without Brady? He has Cassel looking like Brady. No one is better at taking away what a team does best.
