Updated: August 21, 2010, 7:32 AM
It's official: The world junior championships are coming to Buffalo in 2010-11.
USA Hockey today announced the weekend's worst-kept secret, that the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Under-20 Championship will be played in HSBC Arena and Niagara University's Dwyer Arena a little over two years from now.
"All of Western New York will benefit greatly from this world-class event being staged right here in Buffalo," said Sabres owner Tom Golisano, who was among the many executives and politicians at today's unveiling in the arena atrium.
Sabres season-ticket and mini-pack holders will get priority seating opportunities. Fans should visit www.buffaloworldjuniors.com for more information.
