The Buffalo Bills couldn't beat Miami quarterback Chad Pennington last season. They hope to

have better luck against the Dolphins' "Other Chad" on Sunday.

Second-year pro Chad Henne takes over at quarterback in place of Pennington, who suffered a

season-ending right shoulder injury last week at San Diego. Henne entered the game in the

third quarter and completed 10 of 19 passes for 92 yards, no touchdowns and one interception

in the Dolphins' 23-13 loss to the Chargers.

He gets his first NFL start on Sunday with the Dolphins desperately needing a win to end

their 0-3 start.

"I think anytime you're the quarterback of a team, no matter your record, there is always

going to be pressure on top of you," Henne said this week. "You are judged if you win the game

or not. As a quarterback, that is how it is. We are going to set an example this week, go out

and practice well and hopefully that will carry over to the game."

It's hard to rattle the unflappable Pennington, but the Bills will test Henne to see if

he's made of the right stuff.

If the Bills were willing to come after the likes of Tom Brady and Drew Brees, they

certainly won't hesitate throwing every blitz and pressure in their playbook at Henne.

"I think the importance of pressure on the quarterback is higher when you are facing a

young guy because he doesn't have that experience to fall back on," said Bills defensive end

Ryan Denney. "With Pennington, he's a poised guy who is confident in the pocket because he's

seen just about every defense. But for a young quarterback, you want to do some things to

confuse him and force him into mistakes. Anything we can throw at him to add to that pressure

is going to aid the defense."

The Bills expect the Dolphins to lean heavily on the running game to take pressure off

Henne. But the Bills respect Henne's ability to make throws when he has to.

He has a much stronger arm than Pennington, which should help revive the Dolphins' dormant

downfield passing game.

The Bills also expect Henne to be more at ease than last Sunday with more time to prepare.

"After Pennington was hurt, [Henne] was thrown into the fire and he didn't look as

comfortable," Bills defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said. "But I think he'll be a lot more

comfortable with a week of practice and knowing that he's going to run the show."

Bills head coach Dick Jauron officially declared starting safeties Donte Whitner (thumb)

and Bryan Scott (high ankle sprain), starting left tackle Demetrius Bell (groin) and backup

defensive tackle John McCargo (calf) out for Sunday's game.

With Whitner and Scott sidelined, the Bills will be without four starters on defense.

Cornerback Leodis McKelvin was put on injured reserve with a broken fibula Wednesday and

middle linebacker Paul Posluszny is still recovering from a broken arm.

The defense is shorthanded even more with McCargo missing his second straight game.

Starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams is playing, but is dealing with a groin injury. That

leaves the Bills with only two healthy defensive tackles ... Marcus Stroud and Spencer Johnson.

Game-day forecast in Miami is calling for a high temperature of 89 degrees, so the Bills

might have to use defensive ends to fill out the tackle rotation.

Joining Williams as probable is rookie tight end Shawn Nelson, who appears to be recovered

from a sprained shoulder that sidelined him last week. The Bills played last Sunday with only

two tight ends and gave Denney some snaps there this week in case of an emergency.

Denney, who played some tight end when Mike Mularkey was head coach, caught his second

touchdown pass on a fake field goal in as many years against New Orleans.

Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is listed as questionable after failing to practice this

week due to an ailing hamstring. Head coach Tony Sparano said his best pass rusher will be a

game-time decision, but that's nothing new. Porter was questionable going into last Sunday's

game at San Diego, but played about 25 snaps.

If he does play on Sunday, he could be limited to pass-rushing situations.
