Sabres add some road games in HD
Updated: August 21, 2010, 8:44 AM
The Buffalo Sabres are expected to announce later today that 12 of their road games will be
carried in high definition this season along with the 41 home games for a total of 53 games in HD.
Time Warner Cable and DirecTV subscribers can receive 39 home games in HD carried by Madison Square Garden Network. Those subscribers also will be able to get MSG's HD production of six road games involving the teams in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area: the Islanders, the Rangers and the Devils.
The other six road games in HD will come from the National Hockey League's TV partners,
Versus and NBC. Versus is carrying seven Sabres games in HD, five on the road and two of the
41 home games. One Sabres game is tentatively on NBC's national schedule.
The Sabres have previously said their contract with MSG doesn't require the regional sports
network to carry all the team's road games in HD until the 2012-13 season.
TWC and DirecTV carry MSG's HD coverage here, according to the Sabres.
