Updated: August 21, 2010, 8:36 AM
TAMPA, Fla. — Free agent left wing Alex Tanguay has signed a one-year contract with the
Tampa Bay Lightning. TSN reports the contract is worth $2.5 million.
The veteran of 659 NHL games with Colorado, Calgary and Montreal finalized the deal after
passing a physical Tuesday. He had 16 goals and 41 points in 50 games for the Canadiens last
season.
Tanguay has 193 goals and 580 points in nine seasons. He was Colorado's first-round draft
in 1998 and was an All-Star with the Avalanche during the 2003-04 season.
The 29-year-old has played in 98 career playoff games. He scored two goals, including the
game-winner, in Game Seven of Colorado's victory over New Jersey in the 2001 Stanley Cup
Finals.
TSN also reported that Tampa Bay stars and fellow Quebec natives Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis contacted Tanguay and lobbied him to sign with the Lightning.
