Star Wars Night Episode VII and the traditional Independence Eve appearance of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus are among the highlights of a full season of promotional events announced on Tuesday by the Buffalo Bisons.

The 129th season of professional baseball in Buffalo begins on Opening Day, Thursday, April 3 against the Rochester Red Wings.

“With another fantastic lineup of promotions, giveaways and values, we are encouraging our fans to once again ‘Catch the Experience’ of a Bisons game at Coca-Cola Field,” Bisons General Manager Mike Buczkowski said.

Beside Star Wars Night, presented by Alfred State College on June 7 against Syracuse, the BPO concert and fireworks show on July 3 will mark the 20th anniversary of the KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration.

Fan appreciation night is scheduled for Aug. 26 against Pawtucket. Another highlight is Mystery Ball Night on Aug. 21.

There are 11 fridaynightbash! games on the schedule sponsored by Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. Also, the Bisons will continue with their Markdown Monday and TWOsdays where fans can purchase two tickets for the price of one at the ballpark ticket office.

The annual ethnic festival nights will continue with Irish Night (June 24), Italian Night (July 23) and Polish Night (Aug. 12).

There will be several giveaway events, many geared towards youngsters including: Bisons Caps on June 1; Bisons/Blue Jays Kids Tumblers on June 22; Bisons Player Jersey T-shirt on June 25; Bisons Logo Baseballs as part of Play Catch Under the Lights Night on July 10; Team Autograph Night on July 30; and Chicken Wing Bobble Heads on Aug. 23; Whiffle Bat and Ball Sets, July 27; Bisons Youth Alternate Jerseys, Aug. 13 and Bisons Lunch Bags on Back to School Day, Aug. 24.

Other highlights will be: Armed Forces Night, May 17; Police Night, July 29; Turn the Park Pink Night, July 12; School Kids Game, June 5; Youth Baseball Day, June 8; Blue Jays Weekend, June 21-22.
