NEW YORK — St. Bonaventure’s run in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament ended with a resounding thud on Saturday as Saint Joseph’s eliminated the Bonnies, 67-48, in the semifinal round.
A day after shocking No. 1 seed Saint Louis on a buzzer beater by Jordan Gathers, the Bonnies (18-15) were just 4 of 24 from the field in the second half while the Hawks (23-9) were 12 of 23. It was clear that playing three games in as many days finally caught up to St. Bonaventure, which knocked off LaSalle on Thursday and Saint Louis on Friday.
Senior guard Charlon Kloof was the only player for the Bonnies in double figures with 10 points. Gathers and Matthew Wright, who scored 22 points in the Saint Louis upset, combined for just 4 of 19 overall and 1-for-8 from long distance.
