HELPING VETS—For the past nine years, Judi Kaczmarek, human resources specialist at the VA Western New York Health Care System, 3495 Bailey Ave., has organized a free Thanksgiving dinner for homeless veterans and other needy vets and their families. Once again, about 150 will be treated to a turkey and ham dinner from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. Sunday in the VA Food Court on the hospital’s lower level. Admission is by ticket only. To get a ticket and for other information, call 881-5855.
••• ANOTHER HELPING—
Then there’s the Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 1 to 4 p. m. Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, from 1 to 4 p. m. in Most Precious Blood Hall, 22 Prospect St., Angola. Walk-ins are welcome, but even more welcome will be a call to 549-0410 by Sunday to let them know you’re coming. Also welcome are donations to help defray the cost. It’s sponsored by the Lakeshore Association of Christian Churches and Angola Post 5798, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

—St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Buffalo is celebrating the 90th anniversary of laying the church cornerstone with a Ukrainian Bazaar from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Saturday and Sunday in Ukrainian Hall, 1219 Abbott Road, Lackawanna. Featured are pierogi, cabbage rolls, borscht, baked goods and more than 100 theme baskets.
