SWEET SEASON—Particularly divine right now are the strawberries, which can be fully appreciated from 4 to 7 p. m. Wednesday at the annual Strawberry Festival at South Park United Methodist Church, 2291 South Park Ave. at Ashton Place. For $4, you can make your own strawberry dessert with biscuit and toppings. There also will be $1.75 hot dogs and $2 hamburgers. The Grandfathers Orchestra will provide music from 5 to 6 p. m.

TOOTH AND CLAW— Plan in advance to be part of the Lobster Fest from 5 to 9 p. m. Friday at the Wendelville Fire Company, Campbell Boulevard and Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst. It’s presale only for $30, which gets you two whole lobsters, corn on the cob, salt potatoes, roll, beer, pop and coffee. SEMPER FI—A silent auction will be held from 2 to 8 p. m. Friday in Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Post 6251, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2450 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga, to honor the memory of Cpl. George S. Bondarewicz of Buffalo, who was one of 22 Marines who died in a midair helicopter crash in June 1967 at the Marine Corps Air Station at New River, N. C.
Sponsored by his friends, the VFW and the staff of Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center in East Aurora, it will help provide injured and disabled veterans equine therapy programs at Miracle Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center, not far from the crash site. A fish fry and other menu items will be available starting at 3:30 p. m. and there will be a clown visit. Admission is free.
