HELPING HANDS—For the past 2z ye 1/2 r 1/3 , Sherry Yousett of the Town of Lockport, the mother of two teenage boys, has been battling liposarcoma, a particularly aggressive form of cancer. She has undergone multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. To help pay for her considerable medical expenses, friends and family are holding a fundraising event from 2 to 8 p. m. Saturday at Cambria Volunteer Fire Hall, 4631 Cambria-Wilson Road (Route 425), Lockport.
There will be a basket auction, a 50/50 split, food from 4 to 7 p. m. and live music, including a jam session featuring local musicians Jim Jeckovich, Jamie Holka, Frank Vence and Kevin Connor. GRASS ROOTS—It’s lawn fete season again. Our Lady of Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church, 1619 Abbott Road, Lackawanna, holds its annual fete from 4 to 11 p. m. Saturday and noon to 11 p. m. Sunday. In addition to all the usual attractions, Terry Buchwald will perform his tribute to Elvis from 7 to 11 p. m. Saturday; the Adriatic Brac Tamburitza Band will play from noon to 4 p. m. Sunday; and Joe Donohue will entertain from 4 to 9 p. m. Admission is free.
