BASKET BLESSING— Leave some extra time on your Easter Saturday trip to the Broadway Market for an extra stop. The landmark Corpus Christi Church, 199 Clark St., one block from the market, will be offering the traditional Blessing of the Easter Baskets from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. Baskets will be blessed every 15 minutes. In the Polish tradition, families decorated their baskets and filled them with special food items to be eaten on Easter morning.

OSTERN GOTTESDIENST— The German-language service last Christmas Eve at Trinity Old Lutheran Church, 3445 Sheridan Drive, Eggertsville, drew such a good turnout that the new pastor, German-born Rev. Dieter Miss, has decided to have a German-language Easter Sunday service at 10:45 a. m.
“If the Easter service lives up to expectation,” the pastor says, “inclusion of German-language services will probably become a fixture, especially for Christmas and Easter.”

DYNGUS FEVER— There are a dozen official Dyngus Day celebrations at www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com, but we’ve heard of one that apparently missed the list.
Hank Nowak Post 45, AM-VETS, will host a Dyngus Day party Monday in the club at 3071 Abbott Road, Orchard Park. Doors open at 1 p. m.; the party runs from 3 to 8 p. m.
Proceeds benefit the Veterans Helping Veterans program, which provides welcome kits and other items for hospitalized veterans. Tickets are $8 and include beer, soft drinks and a buffet from 5 to 8 p. m. B. R. S. Sounds will provide music from 4 to 8 p. m.
