BIG HOOT — Nobody will be lonely at the 20th annual Owl Family Picnic from 1 to 7 p. m. Sunday in the George F. Lamm Post Grove, 952 Wehrle Drive between Union and Cayuga roads, Amherst. There will be live bands, plenty of dancing, food, drink and music, all included in the $20 ticket. Kids under 10 get in free. Parking is free, too, with room for 1,000 cars.

To add to the good times yourself, bring along a musical instrument, anything from a kazoo on up. Among the bands will be the Eddie “O” Orchestra, the New Yorkers with C. J. Luksch, Jerry Darlak and the Touch, the Nickel City Notes, the City Side Concertina All-Stars, Rare Vintage, Tony Krew and Accordion Bill.

The Owl Family is not really a bunch of relatives, but rather a collaboration of veterans groups and Am-Pol musicians. Proceeds go to help needy families and children via Mercy Flight, Camp Good Days and Special Times, Former Troopers Helping Hands and Sister Johnice’s Response to Love Center at St. Adalbert’s.
