SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE — Ever wonder what’s in those cream-colored Schwan’s frozen food delivery trucks? Find out from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Saturday at Lancaster Post 7275, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3741 Walden Ave. The post is hosting a Schwan’s truckload food sale to support the veterans. Chairman Ray Humphrey adds that credit cards will be accepted.

TUNING UP — Starbucks coffee houses at 18 locations in Erie, Niagara and Chautauqua counties are teaming up with the Music Is Art organization to collect gently used and new musical instruments to donate to schools throughout the area. The drive begins Saturday and continues through Aug. 17.

At 12 of the locations, there also will be special concerts, beginning from 8 to 10 p. m. Saturday in the shop at 3540 McKinley Parkway, Blasdell. The series will include several Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductees, including Alison Pipitone, Anatara and Doug Yeomans. Those donating instruments will get a Starbucks discount coupon. SKY PATROL — It takes $4 million a year to run Mercy Flight, the Buffalo area’s lifesaving medical airlift service. Helping to cover some of that tab will be a fundraiser from 6 to 11 p. m. Saturday aboard the USS Little Rock in Buffalo Naval Park in the inner harbor along the Buffalo River.

There will be Chiavetta’s barbecue chicken dinners, music by Toast, auctions and raffles and a chance to mingle with the Mercy Flight crew. Donation is $20. For information, call Marty Schaefer at 310-0273.

SIZZLERS — Chicken barbecues will be the focal points at two other events Saturday.

The first runs from 2 to 6 p. m. at South Buffalo Post 721, American Legion. Cost is $7.

The second goes from 5 p. m. to midnight at the Elma Conservation Club, 600 Creek Road. It includes an Elvis tribute by the renowned Terry Buchwald and benefits the club’s building fund. Tickets are $15 advance, $20 at the door. For information and tickets, call the club at 655-4665.
