Unions are unfairly accused on politics

Another piece about powerful unions. Don’t I wish! I am referring to the Jan. 28 letter that unions contribute more money to our politicians than corporations. If unions were so powerful then why have our workers been losing so much?

Contracts are unsettled, not for gains but not to lose any more. If you are lucky to have a job, why do you have to work so many hours to pretend to be in the “middle class?” Why has the separation of wealth been so enormous? Why are so many people angry with an organization whose main function is to help workers get fair compensation for their labor?

My fellow union members were anxiously waiting to hear President Obama’s views on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a disastrous foreign trade agreement. Unions will be fighting this agreement to save American jobs. Will you?
