Things are improving under Obama’s tenure
I am compelled to respond to the letter, “We’d be much better off without Obama in office.” Facts speak for themselves. The economy is significantly better than when Obama became president in 2008, inheriting the worst recession since the Great Depression. Jobless numbers have decreased consistently, the auto industry was saved, the stock market has been at an all-time high for months and the deficit is significantly lower than when he was elected.
You may recall there was no deficit when President Bill Clinton left office. That was until President George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld decided to invade Iraq. You may recall Cheney’s statement, recorded on “Meet the Press” with Tim Russert, that “We will be greeted as liberators” by the Iraqi people.
Sen. Mitch McConnell’s infamous statement, within days after the 2008 election, that his mission was to make Obama a one-term president, as well as a dysfunctional Republican Congress, are the primary contributors to the status of the country today. Benghazi was a tragedy, but how about the tens of thousands killed in Iraq because of faulty intelligence in the Bush administration?
