Success is possible with right mind-set

As we welcome another new year, people entertain thoughts of what they hope to achieve or obtain in the year to come. For some, they might as well dust off last year’s list of resolutions. Others will make a short list of goals with the typical headliners: lose weight, quit smoking and break up with my boyfriend. But what will set this year apart from last?

I believe one must begin by making the decision that you are going to accomplish your goals. If your goals are indeed important enough to you, refuse to fail. Change your speech from, “I’m going to try to lose 20 pounds” to “I am going to lose 20 pounds.” Remain confident when talking to others. Don’t whine about the resolution you made and how hard it will be to keep. That will only bring down your morale. Be determined that you are going to succeed.

Once you set your goals, keep your eyes fixed on them and move forward by setting up a plan of action. Do not procrastinate. What steps are you going to take in order to achieve your desired result? Write them down and post them in a place where you will see them daily. Next, move on it. Mobility is a must. Even if you are scared of failure, keep moving. The worst thing that can happen is you fall. If so, get back up. Make this year different from all others. Let this be your “year of success.”
