Sensible Republicans must step up and lead

I have a simple question: What happened to the Republican Party – the party of Dwight Eisenhower, Nelson Rockefeller, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford? Leadership that accomplished great legislative achievements in Congress for the benefit of all the people, not just a select few.

I’ve been a registered Republican since the 1960s, but the present swing to the beliefs and policies of the extreme right wing may cause me to become an independent. I shudder when I hear the voices of the present leadership.

How I long for the past voices of sensible, constructive GOP leadership.
