Police crossed line with shooting of dog

It seems the time has come for our law enforcement officers to be given additional basic training – in limits to their authority, animal behavior, self-control and just plain common sense.

The latest incident was the shooting of a pet dog. The officer said he “warned the dog.” Well, get real! He was invading the dog’s property. The dog didn’t know him; why should it take orders from a stranger? Why not ask the residents to come out? This wasn’t a call to confront an armed assassin.

To carry a weapon and wear a badge is a responsibility, not an entitlement. Officers are to uphold the law; they are not above it!

The dog was doing its duty. Why is it being accused of a crime?
