Old Lackawanna hotel serves its tenants well

This is in response to recent letters concerning a former hotel in Lackawanna. I must take exception to the writer who referred to it as a “seedy apartment building.” While not to be confused with some luxury apartment building, the building seems well-maintained and the tenants I’ve encountered seem as decent as any other people.

I don’t think Father Nelson Baker built his basilica as a tourist destination, and his work with the poor is well-documented. There are new hotels right down the road on Route 5 and off of Ridge Road. How about leaving the tenants right where they are? Isn’t this where Baker built his homes for those in need?
