Obamacare rollout has been a disaster

Rep. Chris Collins has been saying for over a year what the rest of America is finally realizing – Obamacare is a mess.

While decent people can agree to disagree on the policy, there is no denying the website rollout has been a disaster for the White House. Since the glitch-ridden website was unveiled, I have grown more and more frustrated that President Obama and his administration deemed it ready to launch.

I was angry to hear that the federal government has spent millions to build a website that has proven to be barely functional. If the administration can’t oversee the creation of the website, what else about this health care law isn’t going to work? Sadly, I think the answer is most everything.

To his credit, Collins continues to highlight several major problems with Obamacare, including employees getting their hours cuts, premiums for young people increasing, people losing their current health plans despite the president’s promise to the contrary, and individuals and families not getting the same breaks as big businesses.

Unlike a lot of politicians roaming the halls of Congress, Collins understands the answer to our nation’s problems is not bigger, more expensive government. A government-run health care system is not the way to go, especially when the same government proves to be incapable of even building a basic website so people can buy the health insurance they are being mandated to purchase.

Collins didn’t need this website debacle to know Obamacare was doomed to fail, but it certainly helped prove his point.
