No reason to shoot dog, especially in front of girl

Regarding the shooting of the pit bull mix in the Town of Concord, I was absolutely appalled and disgusted when I heard about two sheriff’s officers walking into someone’s backyard, unannounced.

I understand they were in search of a robbery suspect. But still, shooting that dog in front of a 5-year-old; really? Make no mistake, if someone walked into my backyard my dog would also lunge after a stranger, and she wouldn’t hurt a fly! So is it shoot first, ask questions later?

The dog was defending its property as any dog would do. It doesn’t give law enforcement the right to start shooting. They should be responsible for the vet bill.
